Iran regularly calls America the “great Satan.” Sitting in our gilded bubbles, it is difficult to understand why. As we throw goyslop down our throats with our screens glued to our face inundated with cradle-to-grave propaganda, we have been hypnotized. We are completely detached from reality.
But it is hard to be detached from reality when hellfire missiles are dropping around you, when buildings full of school children blow up on a daily basis, when the value of your hard-earned money disintegrates because of crippling economic sanctions put on you. This is what the Middle East lives under everyday under U.S. and Israeli occupation.
Nobody is getting screwed harder right now than the people of Iran. We have been meddling in this country’s affairs for nearly eight decades. Americans are ignorant of the history, particularly Fox News brain-addled conservative boomer retards. Iran has earned the right to hate America and Israel. Anyone with even the most rudimentary understanding of history can tell you.
In 1953, Mohammad Mosaddegh was the elected prime minister who decided to nationalize Iranian oil, taking its control out of the hands of the U.S. and British empire. The CIA then ran a covert operation that removed Mosaddegh and concentrated power in the Shah, a brutal and repressive dictator. The Shah created SAVAK to prevent any people’s uprisings in the future. It watched, arrested, interrogated, and prosecuted opponents across the political spectrum — National Front nationalists, the Tudeh communist party, Islamist clergy, student groups, writers, and later the armed Fedai and Mojahedin guerrillas.
The SAVAK conducted widespread surveillance, including among Iranian students abroad; arrested dissidents without normal judicial process; used torture to compel false confessions at military tribunals; and conducted censorship on the press and universities. They were trained with help from the CIA and Mossad. Reported methods of torture included beatings (especially the soles of the feet), electric shock, the “Apollo” helmet that amplified a prisoner’s screams, burns, sexual assault, mock executions, and in some cases killing in custody presented as “shot while escaping.”
While Iranians were being brutalized into submission, Radical Islam rose up to fight back. The United States sold Iran billions in weapons and treated Tehran as the Gulf’s policeman. This hardened the opposition into hating the West and America, not because of “our freedoms” like we are told, but rather, because of our inhumane and evil foreign policy. The Islamic Republic formed because the public knew that the Islamists were the only ones with the balls to fight back against U.S. and Israeli interests. We cry about the terrorism Iran sponsors while ignoring the truth that we created this monster. If we had just minded our own business, Iran would be stable, prosperous, independent and westernized by now.
In the 1980s, we continued to brutalize the poor beleaguered people of Iran. After Iraq invaded Iran in September 1980, the U.S. decided to support Iraq in that war. President Ronald Reagan’s inner circle of neocons concluded that Iraq must not lose. To prop up Iraq, Washington D.C. restored diplomatic ties, extended billions in agricultural credits and loan guarantees, and licensed “dual-use” goods—helicopters, trucks, computers, machine tools, and chemicals that could serve industry or weapons plants.
The most consequential American contribution was intelligence. From the early 1980s, and more systematically by 1987–88, the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency passed satellite imagery, maps of Iranian deployments, logistics sites, and air defenses to Iraqi services. More than 60 DIA officers were involved in battle-planning support. Retired officers later said the point was to keep Iraq from collapsing. They also said they knew how Iraq would use the information.
The U.S. looked the other way when Iraq began using mustard gas against Iranian troops in 1983 and continued their support of Iraq despite violating international law with the use of chemical weapons. U.S. support made the continued use of outlawed mustard and nerve gas attacks possible by Iraq against the Iranians. In March 1988 Iraqi aircraft struck the Kurdish town of Halabja, then held by Iranian-aligned Kurdish forces, with a mix of mustard and nerve agents. Three to five thousand civilians died in a few days; many more were injured. The attack sat inside the Anfal campaign: village clearances, deportations, and mass executions aimed at Kurdish areas that had cooperated with Iran. Death estimates for Anfal run from tens of thousands to around 100,000.
Iraq eventually was able to drag Iran to a stalemate, a move that further embittered Iran to the U.S. Saddam, undefeated at home, turned on Kuwait two years later and suddenly he became public enemy #1 to the U.S. empire. Iran was able to fly under the radar for a period. They were still punished with economic sanctions. Clinton imposed a comprehensive trade embargo in 1995. Later U.S. and European measures targeted oil, banking, shipping, and the Revolutionary Guards. But after Sept. 11, there was a chance for Iran and the U.S. to finally come together and put the tumultuous past behind them.
Contrary to what American conservatives have been led to believe about Muslim through propaganda, they are far from united. There is a great deal of sectarianism and internecine battles are always occurring. The entities responsible (according to the official story) of causing the Sept. 11 attacks and harboring the entities allegedly behind the attacks were the regional opponents of Iran. Iran and the Taliban were enemies. Al-Qaeda’s Sunni jihadism was also a threat to Iran’s Shi’a theocracy. There was certainly no love lost between Saddam and the Iranians either as the atrocities committed against them in the 1980s were far from forgotten.
Iranian officials offered intelligence on Taliban order of battle, weak points, and how the Northern Alliance would fight. Iran allowed search-and-rescue access and humanitarian routes. They were integral in the ouster of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Iran offered the most useful diplomatic help the United States received from any neighbor of Afghanistan. Despite the helpfulness of Iran, that did not stop the Bush administration from putting them in their arbitrary hit list as they exploited the Sept. 11 attacks as their new “Pearl Harbor” event to remake the world as outlined in their Project for a New American Century manifesto.
In the 2002 State of the Union, President Bush named Iran, Iraq, and North Korea an “axis of evil.” The phrase landed in Tehran as a verdict on the Afghanistan cooperation: help us, then we list you with the next targets. Iranian officials who had taken a political risk by working with Americans looked foolish at home. The lesson was learned: Never work with the Great Satan. Never take them at their word. They will always betray you. From this point on, Iran has been preparing for inevitable war with the U.S. After a U.S. drone strike in Baghdad killed Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, that made it clear it was only a matter of time before Iran would be under full attack.
In June 2025 Israel struck Iranian nuclear and military sites; the United States joined with strikes on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. In February 2026 the United States and Israel launched a larger campaign that assassinated Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials and hit military, nuclear, and some civilian sites. A U.S. naval blockade and attacks on shipping around the Strait of Hormuz followed. By August 2026 Washington announced “Operation Economic Outcast” and what it called unprecedented economic isolation—new sectoral sanctions, targeting of the “shadow fleet,” and pressure on third countries that still trade with Tehran. Fighting and sanctions have continued until this present moment. It is now being recognized even by Republicans that the war against Iran will be President Trump’s ‘Waterloo.’
This is not to defend the Islamic regime of Iran. Frankly, as a Chaldean with family from Iraq, I sympathize with Saddam Hussein and, if I were old enough, would have backed him and my people in their war against Iran. I am a Christian and do not support Islamism. My people have seen what Islam does to Christians in the Holy Land, and it is not pretty. With that being said, the U.S. has absolutely screwed the people of Iran. They have been backed into a corner where they were forced to support Radical Islam as the only way to repel a foreign-backed dictatorship and occupation. On a human level, my heart goes out to the Iranians, the people of Gaza, those caught in the crossfire of Ukraine, and all the atrocities that have been committed due to the actions of my government.
We are junior partners in all the actions of the U.S. Empire. We toil and the fruits of our labor goes to support this war machine that devastates families. Our government murders children and then we are brainwashed to accept it. How can any of us looking at this situation objectively say they are wrong for calling us the Great Satan? Can we be honest with ourselves if we say our rotten empire does not deserve God’s wrath? If Sodom and Gomorrah received its just deserts, why shouldn’t we? The Lord says that he will heal the land of any people who repent and change their ways. It begins with speaking out for the downtrodden, such as the people of Iran. They are the victims, and we are the perpetrators.
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’” – Matthew 25:37-40
Sincerely,
Your Brother in Christ
